Kennedy Club Fitness is looking to award three $1000 scholarships to first-time Cal Poly students from the 805 area code. The Cal Poly-Kennedy Club Fitness ‘805’ Local Scholarship Fund was started by Kevin Kennedy, Cal Poly Alumni in 2015. Kennedy’s senior project in the early 70’s was a feasibility study centering on opening multiple health club locations in San Luis Obispo County. Kennedy’s first of four clubs opened in 1981 in Atascadero, with three other club locations following in San Luis Obispo, Arroyo Grande and the latest in Paso Robles in 2017. Kennedy Club Fitness celebrates 38 years in SLO County this October. Kevin Kennedy attributes his success to Cal Poly’s ‘learn by doing’ culture.
